core curriculum for 1st year B. Med. Tech

Aim

            Acquire prerequisite knowledge, skills and attitudes for basic technical studies and develop learning behaviour suitable for continuing health care education.

 

Objectives

At the end of the course in Zoology, the learner should be able:

1.   To appreciate the biological phenomenon in nature and the effect of animals in human welfare.

2.   To recall Zoological terms, facts, concepts and principles relating to the health of man and his surroundings.

3.   To identify some organisms causing health problems in community and verify methods of control and preventive measures of these organisms.

4.   To identify and explain the structure and functions of the mammalian body systems and the adaptive affinities to perform a behaviour suitable for the survival of the organism in nature.

5.   To recognize, maintain and develop the personal characteristics and attitudes required for health profession.

6.   To become self-directed learner, recognize personal education needs, selecting appropriate resources and evaluating personal progress.

I.  3 Hours Zoology Theory Exam Question Format

   1.    Section A- 20 questions giving 1 mark for each (M.C.Q.)              =       20 marks

   2.    Section B- 8 out of 10 questions giving 10 marks for each             =       80 marks

          (Short Notes and Essays)

                                                                                                                            100 marks

     This 100 marks will be divided by 2 to get final Exam Zoology Theory of  50 %

II. 3 Hours Zoology Practical Exam Question                                          =       20%

II. Class Work                                                                                             =       30%

            -     Theory tests (twice a year)

                             theory test - 1                                                    =  10%

                             theory test - 2                                                    =  10%

            -     Practical tests ( twice a year)       

                             practical test - 1                  =    10

                             practical test -2                   =    10      30 รท 3 = 10%

                             weekly practicals                =    10

           Overall Marks will be allotted as 50% Theory Exam + 20% practical Exam +30%

Classwork = 100 Zoology 

Criteria

      Passed marks                      =     50 marks

      Moderation marks              =     46 marks

      Credit                                 =     65 marks and above in all subjects

      Distinction                         =     80 marks

      F system                             =     2 F

      Supplementary Examination = (if fail 3 subjects out of 7) Student who failed in Zoology will have to sit for Supplementary Zoology paper after 6 weeks.

Staff developments activities

   1. Training junior staff within the department:              

               (a) Teaching learning strategies             

               (b) Microscopic study on histology slides               

               (c) Maintenance of microscope

               (d) Stock taking, registration, and maintaining the overall departmental activities

               (e) Responsibility for office works and security.   

     2. Computer and electronic Teaching/Learning media training.

     3. Participating in the workshops held by the Medical Education Unit of  the University of Medical Technology Mandalay.

     4. Attended English Proficiency course in 2013.
